BHX security

Security arrangements at Birmingham Airport have changed significantly, so this is one page where current information matters more than generic UK airport advice.

Information checked: 27 August 2026

BHX liquid rules

At Birmingham Airport, liquids, pastes and gels may currently remain in hand luggage in containers up to 2 litres. The airport says there is no limit on the number of compliant containers. Insulated bottles must be empty before security.

Electronics

Electrical items can remain inside hand luggage during the security search. Passengers should empty pockets and remove belts, jackets and coats as instructed.
